SCO OpenServer 5™ Media Kit

What is the media kit? The media kit is the box of software and minimal documentation, which contains everything you need to install and setup SCO OpenServer 5, with the exception of the actual permanent license codes. The media kit contains all versions of SCO OpenServer 5 including the Enterprise, Host and Desktop Editions. The media kit also contains all of the software you need to install for multiple cpu based systems as well as lots of add on programs from compilers to web, file and print sharing applications.

Media Kit Contents (SCO Part Number: CA200-UX04-5.0.7 Suggested List Price: $99 USD)

  • SCO OpenServer 5.0.7 floppy Boot Disk
  • SCO OpenServer 5.0.7 Operating System Installation CD
  • SCO UnixWare & OpenServer Development Kit (UDK) CD
  • SCO OpenServer Optional Services CD
  • SCO Solutions Showcase CD
  • Read Me First (2 yellow sheets, stapled together)
  • Cover Letter w/60 Day Evaluation License Codes (1 yellow sheet)
  • Printed Copy of the SCO OpenServer 5.0.7 Getting Started Guide (book)

In addition to the standard media kit described above, a new compact media kit is also available. This kit contains 1.44Mb boot floppies and CD-ROM media only, which provides all of the software necessary to install any component of SCO OpenServer Release 5.0.7, including evaluation and demonstration versions of the product. The compact media kit does not contain the Getting Started Guide. The Compact Media kit suggested list price is only $25 and Part Number is: CA200-UX09-5.0.7.

All versions of SCO OpenServer require that you purchase a media kit AND a license. The license and media kit are sold separately so that overall costs can be lowered. For example, if a company requires 10 licenses for their servers, but all 10 servers are at the same corporate location, the company may decide to purchase only a single media kit, thus saving the costs associated with having to buy 9 additional media kits.

Upgrades & Trade Ins for Customers with older versions of SCO OpenServer 5.

If you are upgrading from a previous version of SCO OpenServer 5, such as SCO OpenServer 5.0.6, 5.0.5, 5.0.4, 5.0.2 or 5.0.0, then the following upgrade paths exist for you.

Upgrades: The SCO OpenServer Release 5.0.7 Media Kit is designed to upgrade systems from SCO OpenServer Release 5.0.5 and 5.0.6 to SCO OpenServer Release 5.0.7. When using an SCO OpenServer Upgrade or Trade-In license, all CPUs, additional users, Optional Services components, and Development Systems will remain valid after the installation of the new license is completed. Customers with older variant 16-, 32-, 64-, 128-, and 512-User server licenses should contact SysIntegrators, LLC to have these licenses converted to the appropriate combination of SCO OpenServer 5 User Licenses.

Trade-Ins: All versions of SCO OpenServer prior to Release 5.0.6 or any release of SCO Open Desktop, SCO UNIX, or SCO XENIX require a Trade-In license to bring the system current with SCO OpenServer Release 5.0.7. When using a Trade-In license to bring the system current with SCO OpenServer Release 5.0.7 from any previous SCO Operating System listed above, a Fresh installation is required. A Fresh installation and new license is also required when upgrading SCO Merge 5.1 to NeTraverse Merge 5.3 on SCO OpenServer Release 5.0.7.

Inter-Edition Trade-In: Customers wishing to migrate from an SCO OpenServer Desktop or SCO OpenServer Host System to the SCO OpenServer Enterprise System must also purchase an Inter-Edition Trade-In license as well as an Upgrade or Trade-In license, to bring the system up to the current SCO OpenServer Release 5.0.7.

NOTE: Upgrades and Trade-Ins may require supporting proof of purchase of the original full license.
