What's the big deal anyway? Viruses are the leading Internet security threat facing businesses of all sizes. They spread faster and cause more damage than ever before. Viruses disrupt your employee productivity, waste expensive IT resources, and destroy your company's most valuable asset - your information. Your anti-virus software is only as good as the last virus outbreak. Anti-virus software is primarily a reactive measure against known virus threats, and as a result is out of date the moment a new virus is released. Therefore, updating, detection, and policy enforcement play a key role in meeting the latest threats and protecting your networks. The challenge is not just having anti-virus software deployed on your company's computer systems, the challenge is how to ensure that your network is protected when a new virus outbreak occurs and how you distribute the anti-virus updates the instant they become available. SonicWALL AntiVirus OverviewSonicWALL Network Anti-Virus is a distributed, gateway-enforced anti-virus solution. It delivers always on, always updated anti-virus software for your network. With SonicWALL active anti-virus protection, no employee can access the Internet without the latest updates. SonicWALL Network Anti-Virus includes the automatic policy enforcement and management of McAfee anti-virus signature and client software updates, and SonicWALL's attachment blocking service-all as an affordable per-client subscription. Email Attachment Filtering One of the finest features of the AntiVirus subscription, is the ability to block certain email attachments from ever entering your network. This is of course a customizable feature, which allows you to add document extensions you wish to either disable or delete. We recommend adding the following extensions to the AntiVirus Email Attachment Filter List: .com, .bat, .exe, .scr, .vbs, .vba, .dot When an email enters your network via POP or SMTP, the firewall will scan the email, and if an attachment is found with an extension listed in the AntiVirus Email Attachment Filter List, the firewall will either disable or delete the attachment, while informing the recipient of the email, that it has done so. Of course if the extension is not listed, then the email is delivered as is, untouched. Here is how SonicWALL Network Anti-Virus works: Your SonicWALL AntiVirus Subscription license is entered into your company's SonicWALL firewall and activated. Once activated, you simply enable the AntiVirus and configure it as required. Once done, all PC's on the network will require the SonicWALL AntiVirus software (which installs into any Microsoft Windows environment). You should make note to disable the AntiVirus policing of non-Windows related servers and workstations (including UNIX and Macs). Installation is simple. Now that the computer is protected with the latest antivirus data files, the computer will be allowed access out to the Internet. If there is a virus outbreak, all PC's will get updated with the latest definition files required to protect against the virus. Key Features:
