[go
back]
Current Version: UnixWare 7.1.3
Editions:
- Data Center Edition
- Enterprise Edition
- Departmental Edition
- Business Edition
- Base Edition
- Non-Stop Clusters Edition (NSC)

Note: SCO has renamed
OpenUnix 8 back to UnixWare 7. The most current version of which is
UnixWare 7.1.3. It provides a return to the UnixWare name that is
trusted around the world as the premier UNIX Operating System for
the Intel(R) Architecture. UnixWare 7.1.3 continues to be the right
choice for companies who place a high value on the scalability, reliability
and security inherent in UNIX technology based systems. While continuing
the tradition of backwards compatibility for UnixWare applications,
UnixWare 7.1.3 also runs Linux applications that comply with the LSB
specification. Thus both UnixWare and Linux applications can run simultaneously
on the same trusted SVR5 kernel. This dual capability of UnixWare
7.1.3 is unmatched in the industry.
SCO UnixWare Optional Services
The Optional Services are a series of
enhancement products that extend and complement the built-in functionality
provided in the UnixWare 7 Edition products. All of the Optional Services
are certified for use on UnixWare 7.
- SCO Advanced File and Print Server
4.0
SCO Advanced File and Print Server
4.0 enables enterprise-wide, scalable file and printer sharing
with PCs running Microsoft Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT,
Windows 3.x, OS/2 and MS-DOS. This newest version for UnixWare
7 delivers a highly integrated environment that allows PCs to
seamlessly access file and printers in the native Windows format
while accessing mission-critical business applications running
on the server. With peer-to-peer compatibility with Microsoft
NT 4.0, it appears to desktop clients exactly as if it were an
NT server and is ideal for environments which need easy UNIX®
system to Windows and UNIX® system to Windows NT integration.
- NetWare Services 4.10
This optional component provides
Novell NetWare 4.10a file, print and directory services for both
UnixWare 7 and SCO UnixWare 2.1. With NetWare Services a UnixWare
application server can easily and transparently be accessed by
NetWare clients, enabling seamless integration into existing Novell
environments. Business critical environments can also leverage
the reliability, performance and scalability of the UnixWare 7
system to build a single, highly-reliable primary network server
for NetWare clients with LAN security, multiple client support
and robust application services.
- SCO ARCserveIT 6.6 from Computer
Associates
A comprehensive, network backup,
restore and data management system for enterprise networks. It
is an ideal system for managing the backup of large servers and
heterogeneous networks. It provides completely automated, unattended
backup management as well as multi-client and server network backup
and restore. It also supports on-line backup of mission critical
databases allowing for continuous operation of database applications
as well as fully automated high-capacity data storage using optional
add-on modules.
- UnixWare 7 ReliantHA 1.1
The newest version of the ReliantHA
software for UnixWare 7 provides high-availability clustering
solutions for enterprises that require high levels of application,
system and data availability. Using UnixWare 7 ReliantHA you can
create highly available 2-to-4 nodes loosely coupled clusters
ideal for transaction processing, database, Internet/intranet,
replicated site and NFS services. Unlike expensive proprietary
solutions, UnixWare 7 ReliantHA supports industry standard Intel
processor servers with off-the-shelf RAID and networking solutions.
Unlike some solutions that use redundant systems and peripherals,
all the nodes in a cluster can be used.
- UnixWare 7 Online Data Manager 3.2
This is a cost-effective, enterprise-class
storage management solution for high availability and online volume
management. It provides software RAID Levels 0, 1, 5, 10 (striping,
mirroring, striping with distributed parity and striped mirroring)
as well as disk spanning capabilities. It includes a graphical
Visual Administrator for exceptional ease-of-use and supports
online filesystems resizing, migration and RAID level modifications.
- UnixWare 7 Disk Mirroring 3.2
UnixWare 7 Disk Mirroring provides
increased data availability by providing fault tolerance against
disk failures and faster access via software RAID Level 1 (simple
disk mirroring). By adding a second disk to the system and enabling
Disk Mirroring, administrators will automatically have access
to their business-critical data should one disk fail. Designed
to work with off-the-shelf disk storage subsystems, UnixWare
7 Disk Mirroring provides a very cost-effective high-availability
data storage solution.
