Caldera OpenLinux Server 3.1.1

Caldera's OpenLinux Server is an optimized, stable and secure Linux deployment platform designed for fast setup and easy management. OpenLinux Server can be easily installed and contains a secure version of Webmin to allow an administrator the ability to remotely configure and manage the server.

Caldera's OpenLinux Server solution reduces the risks of the decision makers while minimizing the efforts of the administrators. In addition to its reliability, several configuration profiles are available for selection with the OpenLinux Server. These profiles allow the user the ability to select a set of server packages, select a GUI or text only user interface, or even to select or deselect individual open source packages. Individual RPMs can also be selected so that the server can be customized to fit specific needs.

Caldera OpenLinux Server – Features and Benefits

Secure Web Server - Includes installation of a secure web server, the MySQL database, OpenLDAP, and OpenSLP.
File and Print Server - Includes SAMBA and NFS file and print services along with Unix print services.
Network Infrastructure - Provides installation of the major Internet infrastructure services such as DNS, DHCP, and PPP dial-in servers.
Base Server Platform - Brings in the basic Linux packages necessary to deploy a server application on top of Linux. Unnecessary services are turned off so that any server application deployed will run at its highest efficiency.
All Servers - Brings in all of the Linux server packages available in OpenLinux and starts them.
Intrusion Detection - Several software packages are integrated to check for intrusion of files, ports, etc. and advise the administrator of these intrusions so protective action can be taken.
Text Only Operation - This installation option allows the installer to preempt the installation of the KDE user interface, the X-server and any X-server applications.
Volution Deployment Agent - The Volution deployment agent is included to allow Volution servers to deploy software and to manage system performance.
Java SDK version 1.3 - The latest J2SE SDK is included.
Permission and Service Audits - Files and services will be audited to give them appropriate access permissions and running privileges to reduce security risks.
Software Update Mechanisms - Several mechanisms will be included that will allow OpenLinux Server to update drivers and packages during installation, after installation and through many different types of media such as the web, a local server, a floppy disk, or CD-ROM.
